Default Animate Putrid Horror (=Death Nova+Minion)

Necros know the difference between Minion Masters and Minion Bombers.

[skill]Death Nova[/skill] is the skill of choice for Minion Masters, usually this skill is cast upon the minions created with [skill]Animate Bone Minions[/skill]. There are several skills to explode those creatures.

But both applying Death Nova and exploding the Minions is quite clumsy due to having to click the Minion and having no minion interface of any kind. Basically, it is a targetting nightmare.

Heroes like Olias or Razah apply Death Nova very reliable, but telling them to blow up a Minion at the right time is "difficult" due to the same interface issues mentioned above.

Then there is the skill [skill]Putrid Explosion[/skill] that uses a corpse on the spot. It goes of from the corpse nearest to your target, but it has a very high miss chance and often goes of elsewhere, wasting a minion and going off without effect.

The easy-to-use solution:
The Putrid Horror

It is basically an afflicted creature, exploding upon death. Upon creation it heads straight for the nearest enemy target and immediately explodes in a Death Nova.

Basically, a homing bomb.

Icon: [skill]Putrid Bile[/skill] ... should be inspired by the putrid thing on the back of the poor guy...^^
Appearance/skin: - basically, use one of the afflicted skins!

How about that: or that:

Skill details: 15 Energy, 3 Cast, 10-15 Recharge

Disclaimer: I fear no new skills will be added to the game. So this idea is quite futile for GW1. Maybe GW2.

Or maybe someone at ANet has mercy and makes Bone Minions look like Bone Scarabs, like their icon, or replaces one of the least used Death Magic skills with it or just adds it as extra-content between GW1 and GW2.

Longasc, this is an excellent idea. This really does make sense.

It would be acceptable from a game balance standpoint if this were a PvE only skill. Now if some kindly dev would only take the time to implement it.

For obvious reasons.

imo too powerful for the energy cost suggested. death nova costs 5 , putrid 10, and the minions 15.

higher energy cost..AND be elite.

Sleeper, I removed the comparison. Before people discuss more about it than the idea of the walking bomb minion.

Don't like it imo. I still don't think anet could program it to walk right up to an enemy and die. Not to mention it could get stuck trying to go for a monk or get stuck on a wall/ chest/ obstacle.

If their are summoners and spells like death nova in gw2 maybe they'll had a good enough interface that shows like a line of minions and you can just happily select them all and cast on them.

wouldn't that make death nova useless then?

or couldn't i just death nova a "putrid horror" for even more crazy damage.

Couldn't it be implemented where you use the skill to summon a bone minion, but that minion's only "attack" is a skill that kills itself and causes AoE damage?

It'd basically be a trap that exploits a corpse and can move...

As a balance mechanism, the minion would have to be a bit lower in level (maybe like spirits, where they only go to 10 or so).

- Death Nova does not have a recharge. So you can prepare minions before going into battle e.g.

- Making a minion walk towards the enemy is not really coding problem, Bone Horrors do it all the time. This one just explodes on the first attack.

minion level would be irrelevant in this case as their purpose would be to explode on hit.

It does sound like a really fun skill. minion targeting is so horrid that bombers are usually relegated to bots.

Personally I see nothing wrong with human controlled MB as it is; If you're not good at it, just don't play a MB.

I fail to see whats so hard with choosing *any* minion out of the mob, Death Nova+killing off that minion with any number of skills that will do so, (should be simple to activate death nova+ the kill switch with the same minion still selected) as opposed to say, trying to find the exact one thats about to die to do it that way.

I see Olias doing this all the time. I don't think it should that hard for a human either. He doesn't stop at minions either, he'll Death nova everyone in the party, hero, hench and human alike.

This I like, it's retarded having like.. 3-4 separate minions all with the same model//skin.
